Spiegel Panels by Verner Panton

Originally designed by Verner Panton in 1965 as part of the KAUFHOF seating system, the pyramid-shaped elements explored modular geometry and spatial rhythm. Panton later developed the concept further for the Der Spiegel headquarter in 1969, where the panels became a permanent architectural installation, shaping the identity of the interior through a distinctive geometric ceiling landscape — now reintroduced by Offecct for contemporary spaces.

Verner Panton — a pioneer of modern design

Celebrating 100 years of Verner Panton

In 2026, the design community celebrates the centenary of Verner Panton’s birth. The reintroduction of Spiegel Panels marks this milestone by bringing one of his visionary architectural ideas back into contemporary spaces. More than six decades after their creation, the panels remain strikingly modern — proving the timeless relevance of Panton’s design language.

Technical details

A ceiling system in three dimensions

Spiegel Panels are available in three expressive heights for ceiling applications:
Low — 10 cm
Medium — 24 cm
High — 47 cm

These variations can be used individually or combined to create dynamic spatial compositions. By alternating different heights, designers can introduce rhythm, shadow play and sculptural depth into the ceiling landscape.

In addition, a wall-mounted version is available in the Low height (10 cm), allowing the same design language to extend onto vertical surfaces and enabling cohesive spatial concepts across ceilings and walls.

Colour worlds inspired by Panton

The Spiegel collection offers a curated palette of 22 colours inspired by Verner Panton’s original Der Spiegel interiors.

Three foundation colours — Charcoal, Gull and Snow white — are available from stock for fast project delivery.

The extended palette allows designers to explore expressive colour compositions and highlight the sculptural character of the panels.

Designed for specification

Spiegel Panels are engineered for efficient installation.

The panels integrate directly with standard 60 × 60 cm suspended ceiling grids, making them easy to specify for commercial projects.

Low-height panels can also be mounted on walls using a discreet velcro system, offering additional acoustic and visual possibilities.

Spiegel Panels achieve sound absorption up to Class A according to EN ISO 11654, helping improve acoustic comfort in open offices, hospitality spaces and public environments.
